Mr. Mutschler joined RatnerPrestia in 2012 after working as a Contract Patent Attorney at E.I. Du Pont De Nemours & Co. While there, he drafted and prosecuted U.S. and foreign patent applications in the fields of fluoropolymers and fluorochemicals. He worked closely with inventors to identify patentable inventions along with preparing freedom to operate and patentability opinions. He also has experience in U.S. and foreign patent applications in the fields of materials science, chemistry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and semiconductor materials and devices, including photovoltaic and light-emitting devices, as well as manufacturing processes, such as chemical mechanical polishing, electrodeposition, and refinement of crystalline semiconductor materials.
In 2007, Mr. Mutschler received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law, where he focused his studies on Intellectual Property. He was also the Associate Editor of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal. Mr. Mutschler received his Masters of Science in Chemistry as well as his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with Highest Honor, from Georgia Institute of Technology. While obtaining his Masters, he was awarded Molecular Design Institute Fellowship and Georgia Tech Presidential Fellowship. Mr. Mutschler majored in biochemistry and minored in organic chemistry with a focus on analytical techniques of nucleic acids. Before earning his law degree, Mr. Mutschler served as a Patent Examiner in the Chemical and Materials Engineering Technology Center at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Mutschler is a member of the Virginia State Bar and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is a member of RatnerPrestia's Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Groups.
