RatnerPrestia Shareholder Brian P. O’Shaughnessy Presented at the USPTO GIPA Intellectual Property Management Training Program
Shareholder Brian P. O’Shaughnessy of RatnerPrestia, presented at the USPTO Global Intellectual Property Academy’s Seminar and Workshop on IP Management and Technology Licensing on November 29th, 2012. O’Shaughnessy appeared as a representative of the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. & Canada), Inc. The program included discussions of national and institutional IP polices, and the importance of IP management and commercialization in fostering innovation and economic growth. O’Shaughnessy’s presentation included a discussion of best practices in constructing and negotiating effective and defensible technology licenses. Attendees included representatives of government agencies and laboratories from France, U.K., Japan, China, South Korea, Morocco, and elsewhere.
This training program was designed to improve knowledge and practical skills in IP management, technology assessment, marketing, negotiation and licensing to officials in national science and technology laboratories/offices, universities, or IP offices who are responsible for IP policy, IP management, and technology commercialization.
Mr. O’Shaughnessy is a longstanding and active member of LES, U.S.A. and Canada, serving on its Board of Trustees since 2007, currently as Regional Vice President – U.S.A. He has also served LES U.S.A. and Canada as editor, author, and faculty member for its curriculum-based Professional Development Series. O’Shaughnessy also serves the LES U.S.A. and Canada, as an international delegate to LES International.
