RP Shareholder Kenneth N. Nigon Will Represent AIPLA at the NYC Software Partnership Roundtable
RatnerPrestia Shareholder Kenneth N. Nigon has been asked by the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) to represent them as Chair of the Patent Law Committee at the Roundtable for Partnership for Enhancement of Quality of Software-Related Patents (Software Partnership), held at New York University on February 27, 2013. Mr. Nigon has been active in AIPLA since 1996 and was recently awarded the 2012 AIPLA Project Award. This award recognized Mr. Nigon’s outstanding service to AIPLA, particularly in his service on the America Invents Act Committee of Experts.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office will be sponsoring this roundtable event as a kick-off to the partnership they are forming with the software community. This Software Partnership will be an opportunity to bring participants together through a series of discussions to contribute ideas, experiences, and feedback on software-related patents. The main topics to be covered at the event will include: establishing clear boundaries for claims that use functional language, preparation of patent applications by employing certain claiming techniques, and future discussion topics for the Software Partnership.
